Razak Brimah's side Mamelodi Sundowns will face Spanish giants Barcelona in a friendly clash today, 16 May at Johannesburg's FNB Stadium.

Barça manager Ernesto Valverde has brought a star-studded squad to South Africa, with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Andres Iniesta and Philippe Coutinho all included in the squad.

Mandela represented the struggle for freedom and equality in the country, and played a huge role in unifying the racially divided society.

The event is one of the main highlights of the Nelson Mandela centenary celebrations taking place this year.

The decision came after post-poll scrutiny of reports of political violence that marred the polling across the state. The State Election Commission had ordered the re-poll, following complaints of violence during the polls on Monday.

The game will be Barca's second visit to South Africa. Their final game is at home to Real Sociedad on May 20.

The friendly comes after Barca's painful La Liga loss to Levante over the weekend, which result denied them a record unbeaten run in the season.
