Antoine Griezmann was the hero for Atletico Madrid as the French striker scored twice in their 3-0 win over Marseille in Wednesday's Europa League final in Lyon, allowing his club to win the trophy for the third time in nine seasons.

The 27-year-old Griezmann, who collected the man-of-the-match award, declined to discuss whether he would stay or leave Atletico at the end of the season.

Simeone has also made two Champions League finals but fallen just short on both occasions. He's played three finals with us and won two. "There has been joy and sadness, but I am so happy".

"I grew as a player at this club".

"The goal was to take advantage of the opponents' mistakes".

"It wasn't meant to be in the Champions League, but I said to myself that tonight was going to be night and so it was". "In the second half they raised their level and the best team won". The sides who finish fourth and fifth will qualify directly for the UEFA Europa League group stage while sixth will enter the competition in the second qualifying round, on July 26.

Fresh after scoring a brace in Atletico Madrid's 3-0 win over Marseille in the UEFA Europa League final, forward Antoine Griezmann did not want to touch too much on the rumours linking him with Spanish giants FC Barcelona.

Goalkeeper Steve Mandanda opted to pass to Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, deep in midfield, rather than clear long.

Things got worse for them when playmaker Dimitri Payet left the field injured in floods of tears in the 32nd minute.

While a late headed strike by Marseille's Kostas Mitroglou - a 74th minute substitute - could have swung the momentum, it was not to be, and the ball rebounded harmlessly off the upright.
