During a chase, the shooter fired several shots at the resource officer who then returned fire, hitting the shooter. The officer fired back, wounding the suspect, who was then taken into custody.
UPDATE: Dixon's city manager has confirmed there was a shooting at the high school.

An Illinois school resource officer stopped an armed teenager at a high school this morning, according to the local police chief, who applauded the officer for saving "countless" lives.
