Scott Wagner Projected Winner of GOP Nod for PA Governor

Candidate Laura Ellsworth did a campaign stump at the Capitol Diner in Harrisburg. Wagner defeated two first-time candidates from the Pittsburgh area, Paul Mango and Laura Ellsworth, surviving weeks of Mango's sharp-elbowed attack ads that painted Wagner as sleazy, greedy and a "deadbeat dad".

"There's 22 percent undecided".

It's less obvious that Republicans statewide are going to pick a candidate based on who party officials have selected.

"We are in the strangest, most complicated political environment we've ever seen", Madonna said.

"Our polls tell us something different, and obviously, the only poll that really matters is tomorrow".

Wagner has aired his share of ads criticizing Mango, including one featuring Wagner's daughter calling Mango disgraceful and others trying to link Mango to Obamacare and suggesting that no real conservatives would support Mango. "And I am an outsider".

"The day I'm sworn in as the new governor and they give me the keys to the Governor's office, I'm ready to go", said Wagner.

Those "body blows" will hurt Wagner, though how much is hard to say, Borick said. "If I walk in here and talk to people here, they're going to tell me what the issues are".

Wagner won the primary against Mango and Ellsworth handily-thanks in no small part to his ability to pump millions of his own dollars into his campaign. Wagner saying, "This is where the rubber meets the road".
