Mario Tennis Aces Pre-Launch Tournament Announced, Story Trailer Revealed

"Luigi's in a load of trouble", the trailer explains. "And this time the game adds the first story mode since the Mario Tennis game on Game Boy Advance, offering a new flavor of tennis gameplay, with a variety of missions and boss battles".

Adventure mode will serve as a place to "master the basics" before going online. Though these Mario sports titles might seem a little weird to someone on the outside looking in, they've managed to build up a devoted following of fans over the years.

In addition to Luigi getting his hands on what appears to be the Infinity Gauntlet of tennis rackets, the cutscenes also show Wario and Waluigi in some spooky new forms. And I'm sure Bowser somehow gets himself involved in the mix too.

It'll begin at 6 p.m. PT (that's 9 p.m. ET) on June 1 and end at midnight PT on the third of the month.

Those that download and try the demo out will be awarded Mario's "classic outfit" upon purchase of the full game. Nintendo also states that "all participants" will be able to unlock a free additional costume-Mario's traditional dungarees-for use in the full game, though it's not now known whether you must achieve some feat to unlock this or if it's awarded to you just by taking part.
