In the book, A Higher Loyalty:Truth Lies and Leadership, he also defended the timing of the book's publication in the midst of the ongoing Russian Federation inquiry and before the release of a Justice Department inspector general's examination into the FBI's handling of the Clinton email investigation, which Comey oversaw.
That's the day Comey's book, "A Higher Loyalty", officially comes out.
Comey, who was sacked by Trump previous year, acknowledged in the interview that his belief that Clinton would be elected president "was a factor" in his decision to reopen the email probe 11 days before the United States election, a development that Clinton blames for her surprise defeat.
"That culture of leadership comes to mind constantly when I think of the Trump Administration", said Comey, referring to the stage of his career in which he fought organized crime in NY. Trump called Comey an "untruthful slime ball" in a tweet and wrote that "it was my great honor to fire" him.
This week's edition of the latter featured none other than James Comey, the former FBI director who was sacked by POTUS after he failed to drop the investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
The former Federal Bureau of Investigation director said, however, he'd still be working for the government had he not been removed. "It always struck me and still strikes me as unlikely, and I woulda" been able to say with high confidence about any other president I dealt with, but I can't. "These are more words I never thought I'd utter about a President of the United States, but it's possible".
Based on what we already know from his upcoming book, Comey's thoughts on the President are anything but flattering.Читайте также: Turkey distances itself from Iran, Russia and United States on Syria
"If I ever start considering whose political fortunes will be affected by a decision, we're done", Comey said of his thinking at the time, referring to what he believed was the FBI's responsibility to act as an independent law enforcement agency. After Clinton's loss, many Democrats blamed Comey, and Clinton herself has said it hurt her election prospects.
Comey said his view of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is colored by a memo Rosenstein wrote to Attorney General Jeff Sessions that was cited by the White House as the reasoning for Comey's firing in May 2017. It was recorded last Monday at Comey's home in suburban Washington.
"I'm not going to try and help sell some books here", Ryan said.
The attacks come hours before Comey's interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos was scheduled to air Sunday night.
But Comey's measured response to Stephanopoulos' question about impeachment is one his devoted readers should adopt.
"And I have every confidence that Jim Comey accurately copied, collected, recounted what exactly went on during those discussions", former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said.
The excerpts sparked another furious round of tweets by Trump, calling Comey a "slimeball" and saying he "stupidly" handled a probe into Trump's 2016 election rival Hillary Clinton.
In the interview, Comey said he was unsure whether or not the Russians have compromising material that could be used to blackmail Trump-either relating to his pre-election personal conduct, or his campaign's actions. And then he says something that distracted me - "If there's even a one percent chance my wife thinks that's true, that's terrible".При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
