A three-judge bench of the Lahore High Court (HC) was hearing petitions against alleged contemptuous speeches by PML-N leaders since Sharif was ousted from office in a graft case July 28, 2017.
The court instructed PEMRA to decide on all complaints regarding the broadcast of anti-judiciary remarks by Sharif and his daughter within 15 days, and to ensure that such content is not broadcast by anyone.
The court directed the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, or Pemra, to take a call on the petitions filed against the Sharifs within 15 days.
More than a dozen petitions had been filed in the LHC contending that the PML-N leadership had been making derogatory speeches against Supreme Court judges since the verdict of Nawaz's disqualification in the Panama Papers case past year. The Supreme Court of Pakistan had disqualified him in July previous year, forcing the three-time prime minister to resign.
Several Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders including Pervez Rashid, Mushahidullah Khan and Mahmood Khan Achakzai are also present on the occasion. If convicted, he can be jailed. "A person dissatisfied at a verdict should file a review petition", he said.
