More than 200 million eggs have been recalled from stores and restaurants across nine states, the Associated Press reported Sunday.
The notice said Indiana-based Rose Acre Farms was voluntarily recalling the eggs "through an abundance of caution".
The other states with affected eggs are Colorado, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.
Hens infected with salmonella can lay contaminated eggs.
The recalled eggs will have a date range between 011 and 102 printed on the carton, according to the FDA.
