Delhi Daredevils (195-3) opened their account in IPL 2018 as they chased the highest ever IPL total at the Wankhede Stadium defeating Mumbai Indians (194-7) by 7 wickets.

Mumbai: Owing to an extremely explosive start by openers Suryakumar Yadav and Evin Lewis, Mumbai Indians (MI) piled up a very big score of 194/7 against Delhi Daredevils (DD) after being put in to bat first at the Wankhede Stadium here on Saturday. Although the equation was simple, the final run was not with the Bangladeshi quick bowling three dot balls in a row to leave Roy needing one run from the final ball with pressure mounting. Delhi Daredevils won their first IPL match in Mumbai after six years as a result, posting their first win of the IPL 2018 season, while MI remained win-less after three tight matches. The right-hander smashed an unbeaten 91 off 53 balls, a knock that included six fours and as many sixes, to help Delhi pull off a tricky chase. Shreyas said Mumbai bowled some good slower ones at the death.

Suryakumar admitted it was "a little disappointing" to have lost all their three matches Mumbai have played so far, but he was confident of the team making a comeback.

Hardik Pandya conceded 21 runs in his second over as Roy hammered him for two consecutive sixes over long on and square-leg respectively, and followed it with a four. After Captain Gautam Gambhir (15) was dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman (4-25-1), Rishabh Pant (47) and Roy launched an attack on the MI bowlers in a 69-run stand. Interestingly, almost every match had both innings run till the final over.

While Suryakumar was slick and innovative - he found the third-man boundary with a late uppercut off Trent Boult and the deftest glide to a yorker from Mohammed Shami - Lewis used his strength to punish Daredevils' poor lengths.
