Two others, Sandeep Dange, former RSS pracharak and Ramchandra Kalsangra, an RSS activist from Madhya Pradesh, are yet to be arrested. The blast at the historic Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad on May 18, 2007 during Friday prayers had also left 58 others wounded. Later, five more people were killed in subsequent police firing on the crowd outside the mosque. The chargesheet named 10 people who were alleged to be part of a right-wing Hindu organisation. Another accused, RSS functionary Sunil Joshi, was shot dead during the investigation. Over 200 witnesses were examined and 400 documents were submitted to the court. After the initial investigation by local police, the case was transferred to the CBI.

"NIA did not deliberately pursue the case".

However, Aseemanand later claimed he was coerced into confessing. The bomb was placed near the Wuzukhana of the mosque.

"The defence argued that the so-called confessional statement was forced from Swami Aseemanand in order to create a theory of "Bhagwa Atankwad" (safron terror)", he said. Only five of them were arrested and faced trail.
