"I want to make it clear from the Legislature that we want people to listen and the leadership of your university is going to know about any Title IX case you make", he said.
Lorincz, who shared Engler's offer Friday morning during Michigan State's final board of trustees meeting of the academic year, said she told Engler her lawsuit wasn't about money and claimed he lied to her about having similar conversations with other survivors of Nassar's abuse.
"For him to continuously push me into a corner about money, just wasn't fair", Kaylee Lorincz said. It was like a 45 minute, hour-long meeting (I had with Engler) and he probably brought up money like 12 times. "President Engler and his lawyer had just attempted to coerce me into settling without my lawyer present".
Engler's spokeswoman, Emily Gerkin Guerrant, said she was in the room during the conversation and does not remember the interim president offering a dollar figure.
'Mr. Engler then looked directly at me and asked, "right now if I wrote you a check for $250,000 would you take it?"' said Kaylee. Carol Viventi said "Well you're in civil litigation, aren't you?"
Citing "lost confidence", the Mastercard Foundation announced Thursday it will stop supporting programs with Michigan State University as the school deals with fallout from a former sports doctor convicted of molesting athletes.
Lorincz is one of approximately 200 victims who have filed suits after being molested by Larry Nassar, the former sports doctor at Michigan State who also served in the USA Gymnastics program.

Lorincz said she felt "bullied" by Engler. She says he told her he met with Rachel Denhollander, and that she gave him a number. When asked if Engler had mentioned a dollar amount during the meeting, Guerrant said no.Читайте также: IFM Investors Pty Ltd Has $13.37 Million Stake in Amazon.com, Inc
"He then proceeded to attack my attorneys, who had no idea that this meeting was taking place", she said. "I have NEVER talked about money with anyone, not even my own attorney". "No one has given him a number".
I met with Kaylee and Lisa Lorincz's on March 28. Manly says he wrote to complain to MSU's attorney, Patrick Fitzgerald. What kind of a person does that?
And they encourage their fellow Spartans to "get involved". "My jaw dropped, and I said 'Just a slap on the butt?"
"She's not my lawyer", Engler said. She said as of Friday afternoon that she had not heard from him or any members of the board of trustees.
Trustees Mitch Lyons and Brian Mosallam were stunned by the allegations.
Said trustee Brian Mosallam: "If Kaylee Lorincz's story is correct, I am beyond disturbed". And committee chair, Senator Tonya Schuitmaker (R-Lawton) said the committee discussed penalties for the school, but decided against it.
Engler read a statement earlier in Friday's meeting to express regret for how the school handled a separate lawsuit filed earlier this week that alleges three Michigan State basketball players raped a female student. She said the university's counseling center discouraged her from reporting, telling her to "just get yourself better".
"When you protect and promote a sexual predator and foster a culture of lies and coverups, you are responsible", she said.
The federal lawsuit is the latest development in a scandal rocking the university.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
