In what was the third incident with its Airbus A320neo aircraft equipped with Pratt & Whitney's PW1100G engines in two days, low-priced carrier IndiGo witnessed fuel leak on one of the power plants on a plane. In a recent incident, an IndiGo Neo aircraft was grounded in Jammu on Monday after pilots reported about glitches.

An IndiGo plane Airbus 320 (non-neo plane) was also temporarily grounded in Cochin due to a problem with the engine.

Pratt & Whitney will provide spare engines within 40 days to get all grounded Airbus SE A320neo aircraft at India's IndiGo flying again, with the first delivery scheduled for Wednesday, people with direct knowledge of the matter said.

Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had on Monday ordered the grounding of 11 A320Neo planes fitted with P&W1100 engines beyond ESN 450 series due to recurring problems, including mid-air shutdowns.

Among the five aircraft, three were A320neo planes and two were A320ceos. The setback also comes at a time when IndiGo plans to seek permission from the government to fly long-haul global flights. This is a technical snag and it is being rectified. On Friday, the Delhi High Court had dismissed a petition seeking grounding of the entire IndiGo and Go Air fleets due to their faulty engines.
