Drabu stoked a controversy by saying that Jammu and Kashmir should not be seen as a conflict state or a political problem, but as a society with social issues. PDP vice-president Sartaj Madni had also asked him to retract the statement immediately. The event was organised by Kashmiri businessmen in which ambassadors from 110 countries were invited.
Drabu then asked people to "introspect" over the nature and origins of the situation in the state and how it could be resolved. I believe he (Drabu) is speaking on behalf of the chief minister.
An official handle of PDP on Twitter wrote on Sunday that the party recognises Jammu and Kashmir as a political issue and added that senior leaders should be careful in their statements and observations.
"If PDP thinks that Kashmir is not a "political issue" but is according to them a "social issue", the very basis of the politics of PDP and that of its founder Late Mufti Sahab comes into question".
A top BJP leader praised Drabu's role in coordination between the two parties and said he was often the bridge between the Jammu and Kashmir government and the Centre over a host of issues.
Drabu's remarks had come under fire from both mainstream and separatist leaders. The minister's statement had drawn criticism from the political fraternity of the state.
France gift Six Nations title to Ireland in defeat of England

Federer wins, 'weird' loss for Djokovic

Trump to propose arming school staff, raising gun purchase age
In 'The America We Deserve' published in 2000, he said: "The Republicans walk the NRA line and refuse even limited restrictions". The new White House plan to prevent school shootings doubles down on arming teachers but backs away from gun control measures.
But the storm raised by Drabu's statement didn't subside. Addressing a press conference at NC Headquarters here, NC General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar said Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and her party are "for their total sell-out" and said "this recent outrageous statement is the last nail in the coffin for PDP".
Drabu tried to defend himself by blaming the media for quoting him selectively.
Drabu, a former journalist and an economist, was appointed finance minister by former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
This, however, failed to impress the party leadership, which chose to sack Drabu. The decision was later conveyed to Governor N.N. Vohra. "Will be interesting to see who replaces him in the Finance Ministry", Omar said in a tweet.
The JKLF Chairman said it is this hypocritical attitude Haseeb Drabu like educated people who advocated Freedom through their ideas especially write-ups and articles that are even now available on internet, which invoked thousands of young and old to join freedom struggle and sacrifice their lives for it.
Drabu was a key PDP pointsman in setting the contours of its alliance with the BJP in 2015.
