Suspicious report claims iPhone SE 2 launching at WWDC

A new report claims Apple iPhone SE 2 with a bigger 4.2-inch display will be launched at WWDC 2018, which is Apple's developer conference that takes place in June.

As per the latest report, which has been published by QQ, the iPhone SE 2 will be unveiled at the developer-centric WWDC conference in June this year. The one notable change could be a slightly bigger 4.2-inch display instead of the previous 4-inch one.

Apple generally makes its next iOS version available in July end, If the iPhone SE2 comes with iOS 12 out of the box we can expect the smartphone to go on sale around the same time.

Earlier, KGI analyst MIng-Chi Kuo had claimed that the second generation iPhone SE will be a highly incremental update with just a specification bump and minimal design changes.

Report from sources asserts that the touch ID would be retained for the iPhone SE 2 rather than implementing Face ID. It would be interesting to see if Apple keeps the audio jack on the iPhone SE 2.

Specs-wise, chances are the iPhone SE 2 will pack 2GB of RAM, 32GB/128GB of ROM, and an Apple A10 Fusion processor.

Although I do think the functionality of the TrueDepth camera will improve in the coming iPhone models, it seems unlikely that the so-called "notch" in the display - a cutout in the iPhone X's screen to allow the TrueDepth camera to work - will shrink in the upcoming iPhone models. Apple is gearing up to launch three iPhones in September - two OLED models and one with LCD screen. Last year, Apple doubled the storage capacity on the iPhone SE while keeping the same $349 price tag.

Going by the report, the iPhone SE 2 will sport a similar design as that of the iPhone SE. Apple will likely show off the iOS 12, macOS 10.14, and newer versions of watchOS and tvOS at the event. Apple iPhone SE 2, according to rumors, will get a screen of 4.2 inches, CPU A10 Fusion, 32, or 128 GB ROM and 2 GB of RAM, but the Face ID is not - will only Touch ID, which cannot but rejoice.
