Second Charles in Charge actor accuses Scott Baio of abuse and harassment

A former "Charles in Charge" actor says Scott Baio assaulted and "mentally tortured" him during their time together on the show in the 1980s. However, Baio's representatives held a press conference denying all of the allegations from Polinsky and Nicole Eggert.

Last month, Eggert - who played Jamie Powell on the show - accused Baio of inappropriately touching her when she was 14 and carrying on an inappropriate sexual relationship with her as a minor.

Nicole Eggert has alleged that Scott Baio began sexually abusing her when she was 14-years-old. Polinsky was emotional and fought back tears as he read his statement detailing what he described as sexual harassment, physical, and mental abuse in front of cameras. "He got startled and in anger, he assaulted me by throwing a burning-hot cup of tea in my face".

Baio, who has vehemently denied Eggert's claims, had a similar response to Polinsky. I will use every ounce of strength and faith in God that I have to defeat the people behind this.

Polinsky also told NBC in January that Eggert had previously told him of the abuse. Last week she launched a Police complaint against initiating the investigations.

Polinksy, now 43, played a friend of Eggert's character on the show, with Baio, now 57, as the headliner playing a college student living with a family as a babysitter.

She also alleged the abuse continued over the next few years, and said that the actor had intercourse with her when she was 17.

"I felt confusion, shame and then fear when I realized I had judged the situation wrong, and it was not innocent, it was sexual in nature", Polinsky said.

Baio's denials and legal threats were made by his civil attorney and a spokesman in his absence - Baio did not attend the press conference, his attorney Jennifer McGrath said, so that he could accompany his young daughter to a school party following her bout with the flu. The news conference will be streamed live on Facebook, he said.

"My client (Nicole) has received a number phone calls from his number placed to her, however he never said anything on the end", Bloom told Enstars. When reporters asked Baio's representatives if he would apologize, Glicklich said, "You can't apologize for something that's not true".

"Mr. Polinsky claims that he told people of the abuse he suffered and that hundreds of people saw dozens of acts of abuse directed against a child, yet not one person has ever reported any of these acts, despite the presence of parents, teachers and over 100 crew members and others", McGrath said.

Bloom also reiterated that Eggert was abused by Baio "once a week" while she was a teen and that they are not paying close attention to anything Baio is saying, as Baio demeaning and insulting Eggert and Polinsky is uncalled for. "For little boys, child abuse can often mean homophobic slurs". "If children are going to continue working in entertainment, they must be protected. Today is about rejecting all of that and it's about standing up against child abuse".
