Meet Lucas, first Gerber baby with Down syndrome

Gerber launched its Photo Search contest in 2010 and has annually been choosing a baby to represent their brand.

He's 18-month-old Lucas Warren and he is Gerber's "Spokesbaby of the Year". Gerber picked Lucas from more than 140-thousand entries to its photo search contest.

He is also making history as the first victor of the Gerber Baby Photo Search to have Down syndrome.

"It brings to mind what Neil Armstrong, the first astronaut to touch the moon said, "It's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind", said Fuller".

"Lucas' winning smile and joyful expression won our hearts this year, and we are all thrilled to name him our 2018 Spokesbaby", Bill Partyka, President and CEO of Gerber, said in a statement. "He exudes what we all hope for in our babies", said Fuller, who says this is just the beginning for what's to come.

Lucas' dad says he hopes it will help shed light on the special needs community, and reminds everyone that people like his son have the potential to change the world, just like everybody else. These winners will also get a smaller amount of cash, as well as some other prizes from Gerber. The “Giggles and Wiggles” winners will receive $500 and a years supply of Gerber and Purina products.

The company has been holding this contest since 1927, year-after-year, without interruption.
