Danny McBride Explains That Bizarre 'Crocodile Dundee' Super Bowl Ad


The ad was teased with star studded online trailers in the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl, generating huge online buzz and outrage about the "sequel" to the iconic Australian film Crocodile Dundee.

There's also a short cameo from the original Dundee, Paul Hogan, who licensed the film's rights for the advertising campaign for free, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Thirty years after Crocodile Dundee first introduced the world to the land down under, Chris Hemsworth and Danny McBride bring the iconic Aussie franchise back as they embark on the trip of a lifetime. It's not long before he finally realizes that he was not in a movie trailer, but a tourism commercial.

He instantly jumped on. Not to mention getting the chance to mess with people.

"I thought, personally, with the current state of movies, people for sure would assume, like, 'What a awful idea for a movie, '" McBride said.

But don't expect a real son of Dundee movie coming soon.

"Chris and I had never worked before and we had a blast on this, so who knows, maybe me and him can come up with something to do together - maybe we'll be the children of 'Mad Max, '" McBride said.
