In the past, Trump had medical exams conducted by his personal physician, Dr. Harold Bornstein, who memorably claimed in 2015, "If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency".
Trump, the doctor said, asked for the cognitive test to answer his critics and attempt to quell questions about his mental abilities.
Despite what he said were concerns about Trump's weight, diet and exercise levels, Jackson declared the President in "excellent" health, which he predicted would hold up for the remainder of his term.
Trump has faced several questions about his mental fitness to be president.
Jackson said that after witnessing Trump charge through 14- and 16-hour days, the president's staff would be spent, but he would still be raring to go.
He disclosed that Trump himself volunteered for the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, said to be a well-respected test that can help detect mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer's disease. "We talked about diet and exercise a lot", Jackson said.
The doctor, who took questions on the president's health for almost an hour, said that he was not told to withhold any information regarding Trump's results.
Jackson even joked that if Trump had a healthier diet over the past two decades, he possibly could have lived to be 200 years old. "I don't know. Some people have great genes".
