Bullitt Mustang Raises $300000 for Charity

We don't yet know what the special-edition model will retail for when it goes on sale later this year, but you can count on it being much less than the hammer price for this auction. The 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt features a modified 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 that makes 475 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque, up 15 hp from a standard GT.

Making the 2019 Mustang Bullitt so desirable is the simple fact that it's been designed as a homage to the Mustang used in the famous McQueen film Bullitt.

Ford donated Mustang Bullitt VIN 001 to the Barrett-Jackson vehicle auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, and reports it sold for $300,000 to benefit Steve McQueen's former school for troubled youths in the Boys Republic. The V8 is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

At last weekend's Barrett-Jackson auction in Arizona, the very first 2018 Ford Mustang Bullitt sold for $300,000. Final power numbers will be announced closer to the arrival of the auto in dealerships, but we know that the 2019 Bullitt will offer more power than the 2019 Mustang GT. On the inside, the Bullitt Mustang includes green stitching on the black leather seats, dash, door panels and center console, along with the Bullitt logo on the steering wheel center.

Boys Republic was chosen as the beneficiary because Steve McQueen - star of 1968 film that inspired the vehicle - attended the school himself, graduating in 1946. Steve McQueen actually attended the school as well. Ford announced the revival of the Bullitt shortly before the auction, allowing hype to follow into the event.
