Huskers hammer MI, 72-52


Not only did the Wolverines at one point go more than seven minutes without a field goal, they also turned the ball over eight times in the first half, almost equally their Big Ten-leading average of just 9.8 turnovers per game. Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman ended the drought with a 3-pointer in the second half, but Anton Gill answered with 3-pointer to give Nebraska a 15-point cushion with 12:23 left.

Nebraska won its seventh game in its last nine by limiting MI to season lows in points (52), 3-pointers made (four) and 3-point percentage (22.2 percent). The Huskers are 13-7 overall, 4-3 in the Big Ten and 12-6 against the spread. Charles Matthews led MI with 15 points and was the only Wolverine to score in double figures.

MI shot 22.2 percent from 3-point range (4-for-18). Wolverines coach John Beilein pulled his starters with five minutes remaining. The Wolverines have won nine of their last 10 as well.

Nebraska was in total control this time.

MI finished the half down 32-21 after shooting 32 percent (8 of 25) and committing nine turnovers.

Nebraska basketball picked up a major Big Ten win over No. 23 MI marking the first time the Huskers have beaten the Wolverines since joining the conference.

Isaiah Roby scored nine points on 4-of-4 shooting in the first half and finished with 14.

In the first half, the Terrapins trailed 16-10 before Huerter scored eight points in a 13-0 run. Forward Moritz Wagner, who scored a combined 45 points in the Wolverines' previous two games, was held to two points on 1-for-5 shooting.
