Comedian Aziz Ansari responds to sex misconduct allegations

Actor and comedian Aziz Ansari is responding to sexual misconduct allegations made against him by a woman he dated briefly a year ago.

The next day, Grace texted Ansari letting him know that she was upset with his behaviour that night. After dinner at an oyster bar, she said they went back to his Tribeca apartment. She said it was "actually painful" to watch him and she found it "absolutely cringeworthy that he was wearing a Time's Up pin". Unsuccessfully. Many times she tried pulling away to show she wasn't interested but when a dude is trying to get laid, he's not going to get the hints. Following the encounter, Ansari arranged for an Uber to pick her up, she said. What started as a date allegedly ended in an incident the woman - who chose not to disclose her true identity but was referred to as "Grace" - said left her feeling "violated". She says she found the question tough to answer because she says she didn't want to fuck him at all.

After the story blew up over the weekend, Aziz finally responded.

"The seed of that episode came from a bit during my Madison Square Garden special where I'd talk about women getting followed home by creepy dudes, and I'd ask during the bit, 'Raise your hands if you're a woman and you've been followed home, ' and everyone would raise their hand".

Ansari issued a statement through his publicist Sunday saying he thought the sexual activity was "by all indications. completely consensual". It was true that everything did seem okay to me, so when I heard that it was not the case for her, I was surprised and concerned.

Ansari released a statement Monday in response to the story, saying he was "surprised and concerned" that she felt the way she did and that he "took her words to heart".

The translation being, "I'm only woke when I'm not trying to get it in".
