The sheriff's office reportedly said the "murder-for-hire" case became a case of "mistaken identity", according to WESH.

According to Fox News, the body of 42-year-old Janice Zengotita-Torres was found in Volusia County on Tuesday.

Sheriff Gibson says 35-year-old Ishnar Lopez Ramos confessed to hiring Glorianne Quinones Montes and Alexis Ramos Rivera junior.

She chose to hire Alexis Ramos-Rivera and his girlfriend, Glorianmarie Quinones Montes, to kill the woman, but they mistook Zengotita-Torres for their target and abducted her instead.

Ramos-Rivera and his girlfriend followed Zengotita-Torres as she was leaving work on the night of January 7 at the Ross Dress For Less store at The Loop mall near Kissimmee, where she worked with the intended victim.

"However, the suspects continued with their plan of murder and tied the victim with zip ties and then her head in duct tape and garbage bags", Gibson said.

The duo tied the married mother of a teenage boy and beat her.

He said when Zengotita-Torres tried to fight back she was beaten unconscious.

Osceola County Jail records show that the three suspects are being held without bail.

Gibson said that's when Ramos and Rivera realized they had abducted the wrong person, but chose to continue with their plan.

Ramos was arrested Thursday night while using Zengotita-Torres' card to withdraw cash from an ATM in the area, according to authorities.

He described Zengotita-Torres as a truly innocent victim who had no involvement with the three suspects. Detectives were able to identify the suspects after Ramos used the victim's debit card.

"I don't say that lightly, that this woman lost her life for no reason. This mother, this wife, this daughter - for no reason, at all", Gibson said.

A Florida woman found dead on the side of the road was mistakenly targeted in a murder-for-hire plot sparked by a love triangle, police said. After questioning, Lopez-Ramos gave a full confession to authorities and revealed the location of the other two suspects who were then arrested.

She chose to contract Alexis Ramos-Rivera and his sweetheart, Glorianmarie Quinones Montes, to slaughter the lady, yet they confused Zengotita-Torres for their objective and stole her.
