The housing was supposed to be temporary while the Seminole Animal Shelter found her a home, but Cathleen couldn't wait.

The dog is now at an animal shelter closer to her previous home until she can find a forever-home. "Her heart wants to be with them but they can not keep her".

A dog in Oklahoma has gone viral after she tried to walk back to the family twice that gave her away after they couldn't care for her anymore.

'Her heart wants to be with them but they can not keep her, ' the animal shelter said in a Facebook post. "We have now stepped in to assist Cathleen on her next journey".

"She's very sweet; very calm and docile", reserve animal control officer Lynzi Thompson told KOCO. Described as a "love bug, " (and obviously very loyal to her humans) Caitlin has received adoption requests from all over the US - and she found the ideal home! She is humble, kind and passive.

The shelter said several people have submitted applications to adopt Cathleen, and staff members are working hard to place her in a secure and loving home. Seminole Animal Shelter Treasurer Marta Mattingly said the organization had reached out to them and would post on Facebook if the family agreed.

Cathleen's adoption fee is $25. "We are working hard on just the flawless, secure place!"

The family who gave Cathleen up has not come forward or revealed why they couldn't take her to the their new home.

"Her heart wants to be with them, but they can not keep her", the humane society posted on Facebook.
