Westbrook Still Trailing In All-Star Vote After Second Returns

Although he is a little under 200,000 votes behind James Harden, I believe Russell Westbrook will leapfrog him for the final guard spot mostly due to Harden's current injury.

In the second wave of fan returns, James polled 1,622,838 votes to edge ahead of the Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo (1,480,954) in the Eastern Conference and overall.

With fans making up 50 percent of the voting (active National Basketball Association players and National Basketball Association media make up 25 percent each), it's likely James and Curry will be the team captains under the new All-Star setup. I believe New York Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis will get a big push from New Yorkers in the coming days for that last frontcourt spot.

Former James teammate Kyrie Irving of the Boston Celtics leads all East guards with 1,370,643. The leading vote-getters will be named captains and will select their teammates for the 67th All-Star Game, which will take place on February 18 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Voting for the All-Star game for fans, players and media ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday. Voting not only decides the starters but the two captains of each team which is apart of the new All-Star format.

Unfortunately for fans, the National Basketball Association and commissioner Adam Silver have repeatedly said the All-Star draft won't be televised due to the discomfort some players will have over the draft order.

Paul George and Carmelo Anthony, meanwhile, are fifth and seventh among the West's frontcourt players. The captains are automatically starters.

One through four are Golden State's Kevin Durant, New Orleans' Anthony Davis, Golden State's Draymond Green and New Orleans' DeMarcus Cousins.
