Kesari: Parineeti Chopra bags lead role in Akshay Kumar film

Filmmaker Karan Johar took to his Twitter handle to announce, "The lead actress in #KESARI is.PARINEETI CHOPRA!". Karan Johar's announcement put all rumours and speculations to rest.

This will be the first time that Pari collaborates with the Khiladi Kumar, and the second time that she collaborates with a superstar for any film ('Golmaal Again' had Ajay Devgn in the lead). He also apologised to his fans and also stated that the picture used by him is misconstrued. Johar, while sharing the look, had written: "Exceptionally excited about #KESARI...the BRAVEST story ever told....we begin our journey today... we seek your love and blessings".

Kesari is based on The Battle of Saragarhi, which was fought by 21 Sikhs of the 4th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment on September 12, 1897, against 10,000 Afghans. He wrote, "Ok guys that was meant to be an image of Kesari whilst announcing the lead actress of the film".

The movie, which is directed by Anurag Singh, is all set to hit the theatres on Holi, 2019.
