Cruise ship sails through winter storm


A Norwegian cruise ship sailed through the blizzard from the Bahamas to NY - and a few passengers caught it on video.

"When you're on a boat in the middle of the ocean and water is pouring down the stairs, you're thinking 'this is not going to end well".

"The waves were over 40 feet and it was continuous - children crying, people seasick, vomiting all over the boat".

Fellow passenger Emma Franzese told CBS New York once the ship docked: "I'm completely traumatized".

The cruise was battered by the "bomb cyclone", with wild waves and flooded levels turning family holidays into nightmares.

Norwegian Cruise Line is facing backlash from passengers aboard the Norwegian Breakaway, after it sailed through a massive winter storm with hurricane-force winds.

The Breakaway, which saw some flooding during the storm, is expected to begin sailing from New Orleans in November. Some guests were not feeling safe in their rooms, moving to the ship's atrium. I honestly wasn't sure we were going to make it through the night.

NCL also said "We sincerely apologize to our guests for any resulting discomfort or inconvenience they experienced".
