The newest additions to the Dell Latitude lineup come in both laptop and 2-in-1 form.

Much of the XPS 15 remains the same with this year's update, though.

Whenever someone defines an ultrabook, Dell's XPS range of laptops comes to the mind immediately. The entire refreshed Latitude 7000 series has two memory slots to support up to 32GB RAM and premium storage options such as two M.2 options (512GB SATA and 128GB PCIe), 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD, and 512GB PCIe NVMe drives. Both use Intel's own integrated graphics.

The XPS 15 comes with a while features the 8th Gen Intel Core processor with Radeon RX Vega M graphics. The i5 variant (i5-8305G) is clocked at 3.8GHz and comes with 6MB Level 3 cache, while the i7 variant (i7-8705G) is clocked at 4.1GHz and comes with 8MB of Level 3 cache.

7.8 magnitude natural disaster strikes Caribbean, tsunami advisory in effect

The new Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 features a maglev keyboard design that lets build the "thinnest' 15-inch 2-in-1". The new chip is the first partnership between Intel and AMD in three decades and combines one of Intel's high-power processors with a graphics solution under the well-respected Radeon brand.

Outside of size, the biggest difference between the two devices is the fact that the XPS 13 is a traditional laptop, albeit a very pretty one, while the XPS 15 2-in-1 is a large laptop-tablet hybrid more akin to the Surface Book 2 or one of Lenovo's top-end Yoga laptops.

The XPS 15 convertible has an optional Windows Hello fingerprint reader on the power button, but Dell also included an IR camera standard. By controlling the strength of their repulsion, Dell can create a deeper, clickier feeling for the keys than their 0.7mm travel would normally allow. There are also two Thunderbolt 3 ports available, providing flexible connectivity options. Dell shocked us by throwing USB Type-A overboard in the new XPS 13 and we were just as surprised that the XPS 15 2-in-1 does the same thing. Two additional USB 3.1 Type-C ports for storage are also available, plus a microSD card reader.

Priced at $1,300 and up for a spring United States release, the Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 sports a Full HD InfinityEdge touchscreen in its entry-level configuration, which you can upgrade to 4K Ultra HD resolution if money is no object. Dell didn't release endurance specs for the XPS 15 2-in-1 but with its 75 watt-hour battery, it's likely to be decent when paired with the 1080p display option, and "acceptable" with the 4K screen in place.
