Glenn said Aluko had been involved with UK Sport in drawing up grievance and whistle-blowing policies for the whole of the FA. It's about improving performance by making the England players feel like the set-up is more inclusive'.

'It's recognising that there are significant differences in women's elite sport and men's, and one of the things that really caught us out in the case of Eni Aluko was that we were slow to realise that; because effectively the women's team are like employees of the FA because of the contracts'.

But in comments that could prove controversial, he suggested that one of the difficulties in drawing up such procedures was that women players have a lower threshold for banter.

FA Cup prize money will double and there will be £9m more a year spent on grassroots facilities, nearly £6m more for grassroots participation activities, and £50m extra for the women's game.
