Since this is a clear salary dump, the Giants shouldn't be getting back any high profile names in this transaction, but the money is what matters here.

San Francisco last month exercised Moore's $7 million option for 2018. John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle dropped this bit of catnip in our laps on Friday evening, signalling the Giants could have designs on something big.

After six years with the Tampa Bay Rays - where he was a one-time All-Star during a 17-win season in 2013 - Moore was traded to the Giants in August of 2016. But Moore struggled in 2017, going 6-15 with a 5.52 ERA in 31 starts as the Giants finished last in the National League West. He put together a strong year, pitching to a 2.93 ERA in 40 games and 43 innings while striking out 59 batters. He allowed a career-worst 107 earned runs.
