Woody Allen's daughter outraged her abuse allegations have been ignored

Expressing her anger, Farrow wrote when Weinstein was held accountable for his actions, why wasn't Allen?

She goes on to criticise the Hollywood community for not reprimanding Woody Allen, pointing out that stars like Kevin Spacey have been fired from jobs following allegations of sexual misconduct. Read Dylan's full op-ed HERE.

"Discussing Weinstein, "Wonder Wheel" star Kate Winslet said, 'The fact that these women are starting to speak out about the gross misconduct of one of our most important and well-regarded film producers, is incredibly fearless and has been deeply shocking to hear.' Of Allen, she said 'I didn't know Woody and I don't know anything about that family".

It's thrilling to watch the 77-year-old cinematographer of "Apocalypse Now" pushing our 82-year-old director into such wild experiments with emerging technologies, and this new creative partnership with Storaro is the most heartening development of Allen's late career. Along with Winslet, Dylan called out other actresses who have worked with her father including Greta Gerwig and Blake Lively. She writes that "it breaks my heart" when men and women dodge or don't fully answer questions about working with the director. His own awful, bizarrely revealing movie, Wonder Wheel, was released last week and is in the midst of an awards season campaign.

Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, Winslet jokingly said about Allen: "I think on some level Woody is a woman". "I loved her and hope one day she will grasp how she has been cheated out of having a loving father and exploited by a mother more interested in her own festering anger than her daughter's well-being". It doesn't help that Winslet's performance is terrible (Timberlake's is even worse), and while no one's given much to work with, the whole cast just goes along with whatever Allen's doing here. Allen once again fails to develop a single character within the play out of the film itself, which speaks to how bleak of an outlook the director has to the notion that a person can change. In 2016, Café Society featured a clandestine affair between a middle-aged movie mogul and the young secretary who eventually becomes his wife.

This particular cultural moment, with new sexual abuse and assault allegations exposed daily, seems to be the reacting agent that's contaminated Allen's legacy for good. I'm convinced, though, that Allen is oblivious to his script containing such revealing parallels to his own life.

Gerwig, who directed 2017's critically acclaimed film "Lady Bird", had a small role in 2012's "To Rome With Love". "I think I'm living in that space of fear of being anxious about how I talk about it and what I say".

"I just think he's very in touch with that side of himself". I know as much as you do. "It meant the world to me when Ellen Page said she regretted working with Allen, and when actresses Jessica Chastain and Susan Sarandon told the world why they never would".

"Dylan Farrow's allegations against Woody Allen, which she first made 25 years ago, have been thoroughly examined by law enforcement officials and child welfare investigators". She also says that Allen put his thumb in her mouth, climbed into her bed in his underwear, and constantly touched her. "He then sexually assaulted me", Dylan writes. Allen has always denied all of the allegations.

As the fallout from October's Weinstein allegations continues to trickle down throughout Hollywood and beyond, and the women and men who have come forward receive deserved praise for being ready and willing to share their experiences with the world, it can sometimes be all too easy to forget the people before them who have done the same. Farrow was awarded custody of her adopted children with Allen, and he was denied visitation rights. The system worked for Harvey Weinstein for decades. No charges were ever filed, and the reason is simple: "because Woody Allen is innocent".
