Since Soulcalibur 5, Bandai Namco re-released an HD version of Soulcalibur 2 and released Soulcalibur: Lost Swords, a free-to-play version of the game based on Soulcalibur 5.

Big news this evening as Bandai Namco announced Soulcalibur 6 during the 2017 Video Game Awards.

This will be the current generation iteration of the almost 20-year-old weapons-based fighting game series, with the game running on Unreal Engine 4, accoring to Polygon. While there were few specific details one could pull from this trailer, the little we've seen here looks lovely and full of the burning excitement we've come to expect from the Soul Calibur franchise.

As one would expect, the announcement trailer features loads of sharp weapons and flailing bodies accompanied by an orchestral score. There's little information beyond a single teaser trailer, although we do know that the game will at least be headed to PC for the first time.
