'Several' pedestrians hit in Manhattan

Multiple pedestrians were struck by a vehicle in Manhattan Thursday afternoon.

The vehicle remained on the scene, near the corner of Broadway and Liberty Street across from Zuccotti Park, according to Pix11. The SUV then struck a person on a bike.

"The area of Broadway & Liberty is completely safe", the NYPD's Mark Iocco tweeted. A bicyclist was also injured. Police said all of their injuries appear to be non-life threatening. Auto traffic in the area was closed as police investigated the situation.

A auto with a badly damaged front, is on the footpath. A bicyclist was struck near the scene of the second crash. The driver was taken into custody for questioning, WNBC reported. Authorities said the driver, believed to be in his 60s, was detained following the 1:30 p.m. chaos and is being questioned.
