Accumulating snow moves in for the weekend


There'll be a few sunny spells today, mixed with ongoing occasional wintry showers of hail, sleet and snow, according to Met Eireann.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy skies and a few snow showers are possible, with a high of 32 degrees.

Today: Mostly cloudy, slight breeze.

Sunday: Partly cloudy, blustery and cold.

We will see a brief warm-up with that system with highs in the upper 30s Monday afternoon, but more cold, arctic air will push in to reinforce the existing arctic blast by the middle to the end of next week with highs next Friday only reaching the low 20s.

We are also watching where a lake effect snow band may situate itself Saturday morning.

As the models continue to update we will have more information. The high temperature will be 42 in the city, low 40s in the suburbs. High temperatures stay cold, perhaps in the mid-30s to around 40.

We have several shots at snow showers over the next week with the cold not expected to back off in the near future. Followed by even colder air heading into next weekend.
