Warren Moon, a former Edmonton Eskimos star who quarterbacked the team to five Grey Cup championships in the 1970s and 1980s, is facing allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct in a civil lawsuit filed this week by a woman who worked for a sports marketing firm that lists him as its president.
While Haskell, 32, declined to comment on the pending lawsuit, her attorney, Diana Fitzgerald, said Haskell never went to the police with her accusations against Moon because she "was scared" and seeking to "further her career in the sports marketing industry".
According to the lawsuit, Haskell complained about the job requirements on multiple occasions, but was told by Moon that if she didn't want to do what was asked of her, then he'd "find someone else who was" willing.
The lawsuit was filed Monday in Orange County Superior Court. He threw for 49,325 yards and 291 touchdowns in the regular season and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2006.
Soon after she began her employment, Moon demanded Ms. Haskell submit to a variety of unnerving sexual and perverse controlling arrangements, including sleeping in the same bed with him on all business trips, providing him unfettered access to the bathroom every time she showered, wearing skimpy lingerie while in the obligatory single room, obtaining prior approval for her wardrobe, and being subjected to continuous unwanted and unsolicited sexual advances.
In her role as Moon's personal assistant, Haskell says she traveled with Moon on a weekly basis for speaking engagements and charity events. Moon's former executive assistant at his Sports 1 Marketing firm filed a lawsuit against him this week.
