Toys for Tots accepting money, new toys for St. Lawrence County kids

Continued community support is essential in order to serve all the children in this year's applications.

Dozens of local children will have toys under the tree this year and it's thanks to your help!

Riders are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy for kids in need during the holidays.

Toys for Tots drives are well underway including last Friday when Marines collected donations outside our WTHI-TV studio.

A toy drive will also be held at the Ogdensburg Walmart from 5 to 7 p.m. on December 15. "We just want to help make sure we help as many kids have a Christmas this year".

In St. Lawrence County, Ms. Reynolds says the need is great, with many children living at or below the poverty line.

The Marine Corps Toys for Tots program operates exclusively on the gracious outpouring from local people and organizations. "And there's some in other surrounding communities, but in Midland there is not one", said Kent Aloia, coordinator of Bay County's Toys for Tots. "This Christmas season we've got hundreds of families who've already signed up to receive gifts from us", said Capt. Brian Goodwill, with the Salvation Army in Midland.
