The good news is we will have lots of sunshine and lighter winds than what we've had so far this week.

Next week brings some uncertainty with how many times cold air works its way into the area as well as how cold it will be.

Temperatures will start in the low 20s in the Lubbock area on Thursday but some locations to the north will drop into the teens.

Sunday will see temperatures remain in the high-30s, with a mixture of sun and clouds. The forecast says highs Thursday and Saturday should stay in the 30s.

Quick-moving disturbances will bring a slight chance for a few flurries late Friday night or early Saturday morning, and maybe another chance late Monday or Tuesday. The first piece brings snows with minor accumulation potential to SW and south central IN for next Wednesday morning and midday. As highs reach to the lower 40s, the "feels like" temperature will be in the mid 30s. Light snow showers are possible and temperatures fall back to the middle and upper 30s. The first such opportunity comes overnight Friday into Saturday as a low pressure system develops along a front out over the ocean.

We've been tracking a cold rain across the area Wednesday with the temperatures holding in the 40s. As is always the case with these situations, the track can shift a little bit even overnight tonight and tomorrow, so forecasts are likely to change. As that front looks to be fairly far off the coast, most of the moisture should stay out over the ocean as well.

Sunday: Partly cloudy and chilly. Wind chill values this afternoon will stay in the 20s.

A clipper will sweep by to the northeast on Wednesday.

With just 20 days until Christmas, the First Alert 5 team is already tracking our chances to see snow when the big day arrives.
