The new series will not be the first time the series has been rebooted.

The original "Twilight Zone" aired on CBS between 1959 and 1964 and was known for using seemingly fantastical tales to comment on the issues of the day, such as McCarthyism and the threat of nuclear war.

CBS All Access has ordered a full series.

It has already been remade twice, broadcast from 1985 to 1989 on CBS and again between 2002 and 2003 on the cable channel UPN.

"The original "The Twilight Zone" bridged science-fiction, horror and fantasy together to explore human nature and provide social commentary in a way that audiences had never seen before", said Julie McNamara, Executive Vice President, Original Content, CBS All Access.

The Twilight Zone revival arrives as individual episodic anthologies have become increasingly popular following shows like Netflix's Black Mirror, HBO's Room 104 and TBS' The Guest Book.

Right now, CBS All Access may only really have Star Trek: Discovery as their big ticket item, but that seems poised to change in the future.
