SMU, who will play in the DXL Frisco Bowl on December 20th, is in the postseason for the first time since 2012.

Morris is winding down his third season at SMU, and the Mustangs are 7-5 heading into the DXL Frisco Bowl against Louisiana Tech on December 20.

Now, the question- will SMU have their head coach on the sidelines at the bowl game?

SMU coach Chad Morris has emerged as the top target of a program that let go of Bret Bielema on November 24 - shortly after closing out a 4-8 (1-7 SEC) season - and a deal will be done in the next 24 hours. In fact, a deal could possibly be reached as early as Wednesday.

Morris took over a football program that was struggling with consistency and winning. He went 2-10 in his first season with a program that had won just one in the previous season and improved to 5-7 in 2016. Footballscoop.com - a coach-centric website - says Morris would target Clemson's Brent Venables as his defensive coordinator.

Meanwhile, the Razorbacks are trying to get back to being relevant in the SEC. So Morris will be bringing his system to the SEC, in an effort to revive the Razorbacks' program after a mostly disappointing five-year run (29-34 record) under Bielema.

The SMU coaching staff was spending Tuesday night recruiting when these reports started to surface.
