Earthquake measuring 5.5 hits Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district, tremors in north India

Strong tremors were felt in Delhi and the National Capital Region at 8:49 pm this evening after a 5.5 magnitude quake struck Uttarakhand. According to the Meteorological Department, the center of the natural disaster was in Rudraprayag district in Uttarakhand, about 121 km east of Dehradun. As per reports No casualties reported. The hill state, a part of the Himalayan region, falls under a high seismic zone. The strong tremors have jolted whole North India with the intensity of 5.5 on the Ritcher scale.

European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre said that tremors were also felt in Uttaranchal and magnitude 5.0 and epicenter 121 Km East of Dehradun. On Tuesday, a 3.3 magnitude quake was reported in the state.
