Qualcomm is launching its Windows 10 on ARM initiative at the summit, so AMD's surprising appearance to announce new capabilities with its x86 processors seemed somewhat out of place, but it is an important development.

Qualcomm also confirmed that the Snapdragon 845 will be the chipset to power the next generation of flagship smartphones in 2018, but aside from vague promises about improved camera technology and greater efficiency, no details have yet been revealed. The device runs Windows 10 S out of the box, you will however able to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

As a result, first impressions from the new devices aren't hugely different from any other Windows 10 device. Still, it's pretty thin and light.

No UK prices were announced at the conference but a USA price of $599 for the model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and $799 for the model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB look very reasonable indeed. The NovaGo's screen can't be detached, but it does rotate 360 degrees for tablet mode. "The Envy x2 will have a Surface-like detachable keyboard and will be just 0.3" (6.9 mm) thick. Next, it was the turn of HP's Kevin Frost, who also unveiled a Snapdragon 835-powered Windows 10 laptop at the event: the HP Envy x2. That's the same setup found in many Android phones released in 2017, including Samsung's Galaxy S8 and Google's Pixel 2. Whether these devices live up to their expectations or not we are sure of one thing that it will create a homogeneous opportunity to take this revolution forward. Stay tuned for more.
