Mahindra Electric, Zoomcar launch EVs for shared mobility in Hyderabad


Mahindra Electric's vehicles on the Uber platform will include the e20Plus hatchback and the eVerito sedan.

Uber has partnered with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd to rollout electric vehciles (EVs) in India, starting with Delhi, and Hyderabad. Speaking on collaboration Dr. Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, Mahindra and Mahindra said, "As the pioneers of electric vehicles in the country, we would like to be at the forefront, leading this change toward smart and sustainable mobility solutions".

Both companies plan to expand the deployment of electric vehicles to several other cities, in the long term. Our collaboration with Uber is an important next step to help accelerate the large scale adoption of EVs on shared mobility platforms and meet the nations vision of EVs, " said Goenka.

The tie-up closely follows the recent tie-up between Tata Group and Jayem Automotives to deploy EVs in New Delhi through Ola, Uber's rival.

The alliance envisages supply of Mahindra's electric vehicles, financing of the vehicles from Mahindra Finance, as well as insurance, maintenance and other services to ensure a viable proposition for Uber's driver partners, the firms said in a joint statement.
