Lizzy Caplan In Talks To Star In Channing Tatum Starrer 'Gambit'

20th Century Fox's Gambit movie has been in development for what seems like decades now.

Lizzy Caplan is close to signing on to play Channing Tatum's leading lady in upcoming X-Men spin-off Gambit, according to reports.

Caplan, first known for her breakout role in Mean Girls, has since enjoyed a healthy slew of roles, including on the series Masters of Sex, which garnered her an Emmy nomination.

The film is finally finding its legs after losing directors multiple times - both Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt joined and exited the project in the past year. In the comics, she's also a love interest of Remy/Gambit.

He had only just become a full-time police officer in June after working for the New Kensington department as a part-timer. At an emotional press conference Tuesday morning, New Kensington police chief Jim Klein said Shaw was an exemplary officer.

Details of Caplan's character are unknown, but some fans are speculating she could play Belladonna Bourdreaux, the mutant leader of the Guild of Assassins - which rivaled Remy LeBeau's own assassins group in New Orleans.

Caplan will next be seen in James Franco's The Disaster Artist on December 6 alongside Franco, his brother Dave and Alison Brie.

Channing Tatum is also on board Gambit as producer in addition to Reid Carolin, and X-Men's Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg. We are of course completely erasing that X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie from our minds.

The movie will be bankrolled by Fox Entertainment and is slated to release on February 19, 2019.
