Party leaders say though it is not necessary to convene a formal meeting of the CWC to approve the schedule of the presidential election, Sonia Gandhi has chose to get the approval of the party's highest decision-making body.

In October, The Uttarakhand Congress passed a agreed resolution on the lookout for Gandhi's pramotion as the party president.

Congress scion Rahul, who entered politics in 2004, was appointed as the vice president of the party in 2013. "If only one nomination is filed, the results will be announced on the date of withdrawal of nominations", AICC general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said.

He also alleged that Congress did bungling in the loan and it was not repaid, and that Sonia and Rahul were made directors of a company - Young Indian - in November 2010, which acquired nearly all the shareholding of the AJL and all its properties, reportedly worth Rs. 5,000 crore.
