Prosecutors involved with the bribery and money laundering case are now working out the details to an indictment for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a wealthy businessman whose collaborators have been tied to the notorious Panama Papers that reveal how the rich hide assets from tax collectors, cited by Haaretz. A statement released by the Ministry of Justice on Monday said the hearing would be held by Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit, Xinhua news agency reported.

"We are controlling our borders, we are protecting our country and we will continue to do so", Netanyahu said in a televised statement at the start of a meeting of his Likud party. US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday affirmed the joint efforts to stabilise Syria as its civil war wanes.

The comments, carried by Russian news agencies RIA and Interfax, came following media reports that claimed that the USA and Russia had struck a deal to limit pro-Iranian militias from encroaching on the Israeli and Jordanian borders in southern Syria and would eventually see all non-Syrian fighters purged from the country altogether.

Netanyahu's remarks follow that of the country's regional cooperation minister Tzachi Hanegbi, who expressed similar sentiment a day earlier.

In an earlier interview, Israeli Intelligence Minister Israel Katz told The Associated Press that an global agreement on Syria would be a positive development, but stressed that Israel is not a party to this deal and would defend its interests.

"I think that this growing closeness and consultation is first and foremost good for security and ultimately for peace", he added.
