Shooting near elementary school kills at least three; children among injured

Multiple shots were fired about 8:00 am at Rancho Tehama School on the outskirts of Corning, Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston said.

Reports indicate that three people have been killed and two people been wounded in a shooting in Rancho Tehama, California. Johnston told local media at least three people are dead, but did not elaborate if any students were among the dead. Multiple injuries are also being reported.

All other students had been evacuated from the school, authorities said.

The shooter has been shot and killed by authorities.

The Tehama County Sheriff's Office escorted a busload of children from the nearby Rancho Tehama Elementary School to the local Rancho Tehama Association, located at the entrance of the reserve. Fox 5 reports there are more than 100 law enforcement officers at the school and up to five crime scene.
