Audi reveals the new A7 Sportback with properly good cosmetic changes, more technology and hybrid assistance for all engines. Just launched in Ingolstadt, Germany, the latest Audi A7 features almost 40 autonomous driving facilities plus new touch screen displays and optional voice control. Here's what you really need to know about it.

The new 2019 Audi A7 Sportback will be available for purchase in Germany beginning next February. It offers customers the same broad range of convenience, safety and customisation technologies as the new Audi A8.

We can expect a new LED light signature at the rear of the auto as well as Audi's Virtual Cockpit inside the vehicle. The A7 Sportback is 4,969 mm long, 1,908 mm wide, 1,422 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,926 mm. The wheelbase stretches to 2,926 (9.6 ft.) mm and the whole vehicle can sit on 21-inch wheels.

Audi says the new A7 Sportback combines elements from the brand's other body styles - Avant, Saloon and Coupé. The new model sports muscular flared fenders, a more aggressive front fascia, and a dramatic-looking taillight structure, but it still has the same familiar shape as the last A7. Those who don't want the extra seat in the back can go for the standard individual seat configuration. The auto is equipped with a belt alternator starter (BAS) that works with a lithium-ion battery and achieves a recuperation performance of up to 12 kW when braking. In real life, this is the equivalent of 0.7 l/100 km lopped off from the new A7's average consumption.

The new five-door Audi A7 Sportback will initially launch with a 3.0 TFSI petrol engine developing 340PS and 500Nm of torque. The A7 remains affixed to the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission of the predecessor, packing a sprint to 62 mph (100 kilometers per hour) in 5.3 seconds, with top speed limited at 155 mph (250 km/h). Pronounced contours emphasise the wheels, which measure up to 21 inches in diameter, and reference Audi's quattro genes.

'A Sad Episode': Media Calling Gold Star Families for Anti-Trump Fodder
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders on Wednesday called Wilson's conduct regarding Trump's call "appalling and disgusting". It doesn't matter if I hear from the White House or not because it's not really about...it's not about a call or letter.

On the engine front there's no doubt there will be four-cylinder petrol and diesel options, but all that's on offer to start with is a V6 petrol.

The interior of the A7 follows the lead of the latest A8. What's more, the rotary control is now replaced by Audi's MMI tactile interface and there's another 8.6-inch central display (positioned lower on the console) that's used for accessing clime control, comfort and text input functions. The 10.1-inch upper display (in combination with MMI navigation plus) is tilted towards the driver, and with its black panel optics and graphite grey aluminium clasp, nearly disappears into the dashboard when switched off.

It also gets a 48-volt electrical system with a belt alternator starter which lets the big Audi "Coast" at speed between 34-99mph to save juice, and the stop-start kicks in at 14mph to save even more.

Audi builds the new A7 at its Neckarsulm plant.
