Weber School District interviews 3 student participants about 'racial slur' video

Weber School District is investigating the situation to determine if the girls have violated the school's code of conduct in any way.

After one of the teens shared the post on Instagram, outraged classmates ripped the video and uploaded it to Twitter and YouTube.

School officials and staff were "shocked by the conduct of these students and the content of the video", Findlay said, but decried those who were sending threatening messages to them and their families. While they confirmed three of the girls in the video are cheerleaders, there is no indication the footage was filmed during extra-curricular activities.

School officials first became aware of the footage on Monday after it began making rounds on social media.

Five Utah cheerleaders have found themselves in big trouble after posting an Instagram video in which they appear to be laughing while shouting racial slurs. It sounds as though the girls are all saying "f****** n******' but school staff say they in fact said "surgeon cuff" and that an app played it backwards". Until it was on social media, ' another said.

"The students were on a trip outside of school on their own personal time", School district spokesman Lane Findlay told the Salt Lake Tribune. It's just completely inappropriate'. "Obviously, they knew what they were doing".
