Spicer interviewed by Mueller's team

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is focused on Trump's potential obstruction of justice as former Press Secretary Sean Spicer was grilled about the firing of former FBI Director James Comey.

The interview is part of Mueller's investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 USA election and collusion with the Trump campaign.

Politico reported, "During his sitdown, Spicer was grilled about the firing of former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey and his statements regarding the firing, as well as about Trump's meetings with Russians officials including one with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in the Oval Office, one person familiar with the meeting said".

CNN was told by a separate source last week that there is an expectation that Mueller's team will wrap up interviewing the first group of White House officials by the end of the month.

Mueller's investigators are looking for documents and emails relating to the dismissals of national security adviser Michael Flynn and FBI Director James Comey, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Mueller team's meeting with Spicer suggests the special prosecutor is ramping up interviews with the Trump White House inner circle. Kellogg, a retired army lieutenant general, didn't bring an attorney to the interview, said one of the people.

Investigators are also expected to meet with communications director Hope Hicks and White House lawyer Don McGahn, Politico says.
