Ford is recalling 1.3 million F-series pickup trucks, the best selling vehicle in America, for a door latch problem that could allow the door to open while the truck is moving.

The automaker is recalling model year 2015 to 2017 F-150 trucks and model year 2017 Ford Super Duty trucks.

The fix is created to prevent doors from not opening or closing properly.

The No.2 USA automaker said the safety recall is due to a frozen door latch or a bent or kinked actuation cable in the affected vehicles, that may result in a door not opening or closing.

When that happens, a door may appear closed, but the latch might not be engaged, creating the risk that the door could open while driving.

Ford says it has no reports of accidents or injuries associated with the problem. If needed, they will be replaced and a new water shield will be installed to prevent future water damage from occurring. The Ford reference number for this recall is 17S33. The Limited trim has been available on the light-duty F-150 since 2015 and will now be offered on F-250, F-350 and F-450 pickups.

The recall affects Ford's F-Series pickups.

The F-Series pickups are huge profit drivers for Ford and are usually the best-selling vehicles in the United States every year.
