The Oakland Raiders are adding a veteran presence to their defense, as they will sign inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman to a one-year deal. We're a little green at the linebacker position. It turns out the Raiders didn't let the middle linebacker out of their grasp on Monday.

The 49ers on Friday released veteran LB NaVorro Bowman.

It is also worth noting that Bowman was previously released by the 49ers after the team was unable to trade him.

Hurricane Ophelia turns Britain RED - and THIS is why
BBC weather presenter Simon King said the dust had caused shorter wavelength blue light to be scattered, making it appear red. According to the Met Office, the former hurricane dragged air and dust from southern Europe and Africa.

This season, Bowman started each of the team's first five games of the season, where he registered 38 tackles and one pass defensed. Bowman then tore his Achilles tendon early last season and missed most of the year before coming back again this year.

In his final game for the 49ers, against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5, Bowman played 58 of 76 defensive plays, well short of his usual full workload in which he rarely comes off the field. He repeatedly said "I don't know" when asked if he at least understood the rationale behind it. While now slated to split his eighth season between San Francisco and Oakland, perhaps the distance - or lack thereof - between the two cities played a role in his eventual decision on Monday afternoon.

"Very impressive young man", Del Rio said. And regardless if Bowman has lost a step or not - which yes, he has - his instincts and maturity should have an immediate positive impact. "He's been a tough player, been part of [a] really good defense for his entire career". An AFC favorite at the start of the season, the Raiders are 2-4 after losing four straight and are in last place in the AFC West.
